Angela Joy Mercer Henderson

A service to celebrate Angel’s life will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, in Clayton, North Carolina, with Dr. Steve Roy officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Garner, North Carolina. Prior to the funeral, the family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home.

Angel was born on December 6, 1971, in Wake County to her loving parents Arthur Cameron Mercer, Jr. and Joy Eakes Mercer. She was a 1990 graduate of Clayton High School and attended NC State University. She worked for Rising Sun Pools in Raleigh, North Carolina, and later worked as a Superintendent Project Manager for World Class Homes, Inc. She enjoyed supervising the building of new homes alongside her dad. 

In addition to her parents, Angel is survived by a daughter, Christa Joy Mercer; grandchildren, Hazley, Bristol, and Scottie Lane Cook; her sister, Kristen Mercer Johnson, brother-in-law Mark Johnson, and nieces Alivia, Avery, Aleah, and Ardyn Johnson; aunts and uncles Sandra Stewart, Earl and Patty Eakes, and David Eakes; and cousins Sherri Garver, Ricky Stewart and Cynthia Pinkston.

Angel was preceded in death by her infant brother, Arthur Cameron Mercer, III; her maternal grandparents Earl and Polly Eakes; her paternal grandparents Cameron and Lena Mercer; and uncles Allen Stewart, Mike Mercer, and Mark Eakes.
