Barbara Carlene Derrington

Barbara was born in Columbus, Ohio to Frank Herron and Evelyn (Sheets) Houser on July 19, 1946. She attended school in Franklin County, Ohio, and previously worked in customer service.

As a retiree, Barbara was a compassionate friend and advocate in her senior community. She devoted much of her time helping her elderly neighbors. Barbara was the epitome of Colossians 3:12. “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

Barbara is survived by her children, Jim (Becky) Curnutte, Karen (Larry) Macioce, Norma (JoJo) Jeffery, Sonya (Christopher) Milu, Stephen (Cammi) Koo, Selena (Todd) Miller. Brother, Terry (Chris) Herron, sisters, Paulette (Dallas) Aldridge, Cathy (Jim) Tafoya, Tonya (Ken) Skinner, and sister-in-law Tutti Herron. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Herron.

The family of Barbara wish to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the medical staff of Johnston UNC Health Care and SECU Hospice House-Johnston.

A celebration of her life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton, NC with visitation to follow after the service.
