Barbara Ann McCarthy Wolford, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the age of 77. Barbara was born in Concord, MA on September 5, 1946 to the late William and Elizabeth Merritt McCarthy. She was a graduate of Dundalk High School in Baltimore, Maryland and worked for the federal government for 40 years. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Wolford of Clayton; a daughter, Michelle Wolford Karlson and her husband, Terry of Pine Level; grandchildren, Tiffany Johnson Rothstein and Terry Karlson, III; siblings, Jim McCarthy, Kathy McCarthy Hilton, Steve McCarthy, Mike McCarthy, Mark McCarthy and Marcia McCarthy Licurgo and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara’s name may be made to the Campaign/Building Fund of the Clayton Methodist Church, PO Box 1117, Clayton, NC 27528-1117.
