Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 13, 2022 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Sauls and Pastor Richard Weaver officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Pinecrest Memorial Park. Her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. The family will greet friends following the committal service.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Harnett County on August 22, 1941 to the late John Wilson Butler and the late Viola Register Butler.
She worked for Dorthea Dix Hospital for over 30 years. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and sewing for friends and family. Mrs. Strickland was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior and was a very active member at her church, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Clayton.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ernest Donald Strickland of the home; daughters, Michelle Strickland Johnson (Michael) of Willow Spring, Belinda Hope Jones (Ronnie) of Fuquay and Angela Renee Norris (Mickey) of New Bern; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Charlie Butler of Broadway; sisters, Louis Black of Lillington and Linda Fann of Little Washington; and a special cousin, Marie of Lillington.
Mrs. Strickland was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
