Brett Thomas Parkis age, 45, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Brett was born on June 20, 1977 in Hammond, IN to Tom Parkis and Lana B. Freeman. On July 25, 1998 Brett married his best friend, Nicole Naomi Peo.

Funeral services celebrating Brett’s life will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service. The interment will follow the services at Baptist Center Church Cemetery in Clayton.

Brett is survived by his wife, Nicole; his sons, Ethan Parkis and his wife, Kendra, Luke Parkis and Jacob Parkis. In 2022 Brett became the proud grandfather to Augustus. He is also survived by his father and step mother, Tom and Marlene Parkis of Indiana; mother, Lana Freeman of Maine; brother, Jason Parkis and his wife, Christine of Arizona; mother-in-law, Nancy England of Indiana; father-in-law, Charles Peo and his wife, Cindy of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Jill Striker and her husband, Louis, Kimberly Goldberg, Annie Bennett and her husband Gary; brothers-in-law, Chad Peo and his wife, LaShawna, Matthew Peo and his wife, Jennifer and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brett is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sophia and Gus Parkis. Brett loved traveling and spending time with his best friend and wife, Nicole, and his children and grandson. He started his career with Edward Jones in 2006. He loved his work and his many clients. Brett was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club, and was a mentor in local schools. He also worked with Serve the Need. One of Brett's greatest joys was training new advisors at Edward Jones and watching them succeed.

Brett was a Christian and showed his love for others through his generosity, kindness, and zest for life. He will be greatly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brett's memory to Baptist Center Church, 2163 Ranch Road, Clayton, NC 27520.
