Carol Durffee King

Carol Durffee King of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of 82 years. She was born on February 21, 1944, in Graham County Arizona. She grew up in a rural community in Lorensburg, Arizona. Later she lived in California and eventually married and moved with her family to Alaska. She settled in Las Vegas/Boulder City where she lived until she moved to North Carolina to be with family.

She graduated from Nursing School with a degree in 1985. She worked in Las Vegas at UNLC’s hospital her entire career. Dedicating herself to the care of cancer patients for 30 years.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, her whole life. Serving in various capacities. Whether it was in the youth program or with the Women's organization, she always gave all that she had to lift those around her. She was truly the Lord's hands, dedicated to doing His work. In doing so she changed the lives of all those who knew her.

She loved doing hand crafts from crocheting to quilting. Her cross stitch were works of art. Many people found themselves lucky enough to be gifted homemade items.

She could be found every weekend on a trail hiking to any peak that she came across with her hiking club. She even went as far as hiking Costa Rica’s jungles, Hawaii’s volcanos and the Grand Canyon without the donkeys.

She is preceded in death by her parents Enzley Durffee and Anna Lorine Lines, her husband Rex Evan King and daughter Cheree Daneen King. Her siblings Norma, Viva, Eddie (Grover).

She is survived by siblings, Larry Durffee, Lawrence Durffee, Eliane Durffee. Her children, Rex B King, Sonja Brooksby and Damon King, her grandchildren, Haley Lindsay, Tyson Brooksby, Trey Brooksby, Sierra Jensen, Tanner Brooksby, Kadin Brooksby, Takoda Brooksby, Savannah P. Brooksby, Elias Brooksby and Denver Brooksby. She has 12 great grandchildren with another on the way.

She was a woman who lived to help others. Her kindness and compassion were evident with her actions each day. She was also dedicated to her ancestors in doing the work to keep and restore many records for her progenitors. She will be dearly missed here but welcome with open arms in the next life.

A visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 303 Canterbury Rd, Smithfield, NC, on September 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.

Interment will be at Bunker Memory Gardens, 7251 W Lone Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV on Friday, October 2, 2026.
