Clarence was born in Columbia, South Carolina on September 17, 1945 to the late Clarence William Sox, Sr. and Mary Louise Goff Sox, he was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla Ennis Sox in 2009.
Clarence proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War in which he served as a door gunner with HMM 364 Purple Foxes. After 2 tours to Vietnam he re-enlisted into the US Army as active duty and then as an Army Recruiter.
Clarence is survived by his sons, Thomas Bryan Sox, of Clayton, Clarence William Sox, III (Victoria) of Hampstead, Gilmer Ennis Sox (Jennifer) of Clayton; grandchildren, Wyatt Sox, Harlie Sox, Willow Sox; sisters, Catherine Flitter (John) and Lottie Haynie (Frank) both of Columbia, SC; dear friends, Harold and Peggy Walton of Jacksonville, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the chapel at McLaurin’s Funeral Home in Clayton. The family will receive friends from 1:00–2:00 just prior to the service.
