

Connie was born in 1943 in Clayton, NC to the late Sudie Bell Watson and Robert Johnson. She was raised in Durham, NC by her first aunt, Mrs. Daisy Kizzie along with two cousins, Ruth Watson (Dollbaby) and William Kizzie (Billy), as her siblings. She attended Hillside High School in Durham, NC. In 1960 she formed a union of marriage to the late Cleveland Watson in which they pursued happiness in Washington, DC. She attended Roosevelt High School, under Mayor Marion Barry, completed Federal City College, and became an occupational therapist. She worked at Washington Hospital Center as well as DC General until she returned home to take care of her mother.
Connie was a strong, outgoing woman. She was very intelligent and straight forward. She was full of life and enjoyed her life to the fullest. She always made time for her family and friends, and she centered her life around her children. Throughout her career, she also became a CAN, after retiring from the federal government. She was employed by Mr. Moody Clemmons, to care for his wife, Mrs. Vernon, for several years. Upon their passing, she was employed at the Brian Center, from which she retired.
Connie was a fervent reader and loved reading from her bible and also reading about 25 books a month. Connie would read and quote scriptures from the age of 4, under the leadership of her cousin, Eula Carter. Eula always said Connie was her creation.
Connie leaves to cherish her memories three daughters; Shauna Robinson and her husband, Elwood, of Capital Heights, MD, Lisa Sinclair, and Sherri Watson, both of Clayton; son, Bruce C. Sanders, of Smithfield, NC; six grandchildren, Timothy Johnson, Jr. (Deceased), Natasha Chase and husband, Mark, of Seat Pleasant, MD, Kalvan Johnson, of Clayton, NC, Edward Robinson, of Capital Heights, MD, and Ashley and Amber Truelove, of Clayton, NC; four great grandchildren, Don Johnson, Kalvanna Johnson (Plum), Mychal Barnes, and Nicholas Chase; God sister, Frances Jackson, of Clayton, NC, and a dear sweet Aunt Annie Bell, of Smithfield, NC, as well as a host of family and friends.
