Cynthia Grace Scott Thomas, Cyn to all who knew her, died peacefully November 2nd surrounded by her family at 10:34 pm in MISCU at UNC Rex Raleigh. She finally got eternal rest from a battle with cancer that lasted the second half of her life.
Cyn was the youngest of three sisters born to Frank T. Scott and Charline Lindner. To her family, the 69-year-old was a beloved wife to Bob, a partner in every sense of the word, who dressed the deacon every Sunday as he vested for 28 years. They shared a love of God through the Episcopal Church as part of many parishes in NJ for over 30 years and the last 19 years in NC before landing at Grace Episcopal Church in Clayton.
She was Stepmom to Bill and his wife, Maggie, Mom to D. Reid, Grandmom to Stephanie and her husband, Daric, and Great Grandmom to Kayce and Eli.
She was a straight-talking woman with strong opinions on many subjects including music. When she sang, whether it was with the many church choirs or North Carolina Master Chorale, the Monmouth County NJ Chorus, or Ray Charles and the Rayettes, her boy choir soprano voice delighted many audience members and parishioners with solos and regal section leadership.
When she wasn’t singing, she enjoyed craft activities of all kinds from sewing to knitting to canning. She was considered a master craftswoman and brought many novice crafters to success with their own projects. Her love of family lead to creating a well-researched family tree on Ancestry.com and further inquiry into all branches of her family.
A product of the Middletown, NJ school system, she got her bachelor’s degree from Wagner College and a master's from Monmouth University using her studies in a long career in accounting and business.
Along with her great grand kids, many cousins, nieces and nephews brought joy to her heart and love from her huge heart.
