

Deborah Stamps Lawler was born at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota on October 23, 1953 while her father was in the Air Force. Three weeks later they moved home to Atlanta, Georgia. Years later they moved to Hollywood, Florida where she graduated from McArthur High School in 1971. After moving back to Atlanta she met her husband-to-be, Bud Lawler in January of 1972. They were married six months later. In October of 1973 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Mandy.
Debbie loved dogs, cats and horses. For 27 years she worked in the Veterinary field primarily as the office manager for Northlake Veterinary Surgery helping clients with the care of their animals.
In 2013 Debbie and Bud moved to Clayton, NC to be near Mandy and their grandchildren. Debbie was a force to be reckoned with; strong, opinionated yet gentle, kind, loyal and loving. She and Bud shared great friendships and worship at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wendell, NC.
Survivors include husband Bud, daughter Mandy, grandchildren Anna, Avery and Everett, brother Ken Stamps, in-laws Kathy and Ray Corbett and Jim and Lila Lawler and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 10:00am at Covenant Presbyterian Church 125 S. Selma St. Wendell, NC with Rev. Rick McDuffie officiating.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Guide Dogs for The Blind, ASPCA, Covenant Presbyterian in Wendell, NC or the charity of your choice.
