Donna Lee Pleasants was born September 29, 1951 to Sheron and Doris Pleasants in her hometown of Clayton, NC. There, she grew up with older brother Mark and younger brother Tim and graduated Clayton High School where she also was a drum major.
Following high school, she attended Hardbargers Business College. Donna later worked at Capitol Paint and Wallpaper doing interior decorating, including houses on the coveted Tour of Homes for several seasons. During this time, she met George Rucker and began doing consulting work for GFR Properties. After awhile, she changed career direction and founded Education Training Services Seminars with her husband Charles Sweitzer and enjoyed much success in the continuing education field for nursing home facilities. In 2004, Donna moved her mother into her home and later that year received the Alzheimer’s diagnosis for Charles. Donna cared for her husband and mother in her home for many years until their deaths. She was a fiercely devoted Mother and Grandmother. On January 21st of this year, Donna passed after a short battle with cancer.
She is survived by her brothers, Mark Pleasants (Sonya and two nieces Sara and Katie); the Timothy Pleasants family; two sons, Chad Holderfield (Julia) and Nick Greenway (Amanda); her grandsons, George Holderfield and Nicholas Greenway, and many loved ones including cousins and close friends. She was known as hard working, a talented decorator, a fastidious house keeper, an advocate for seniors and animals and, most notably, a loving and giving person. She is remembered by all for her vibrant personality, infectious smile, and ability to bring humor and light into any room.
