Dorothy graduated from Clayton High School in 1954, where she was voted “Most Dependable” by her classmates. She lived life with a deep spiritual faith that showed clearly in her daily life. She worked tirelessly to maintain a well-kept home for her family, retiring in 2001 after 30 years with the N.C. State Department of Revenue. She loved to keep and entertain her grandchildren when their parents were away and stayed devoted to her family even late in life.
Dorothy is survived by Kenneth Edward Brown, her husband of 63 years as well as two children, Edward and Debra, and four grandchildren, Nicole, Heather, Natalie and Claire. She is also survived by two sisters, Martha Bagley, her identical twin, and Linda Boyette, and a brother, Al Jones, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for later this year. The family requests no flowers at this time. Contributions in Dorothy’s honor can be made to the FBC Day Mission fund (https://fbcraleigh.org/give/) or to a charity of your choosing. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Sunnybrook Rehab Center in Raleigh for their extraordinary kindness and support over the last months of Dorothy’s life.
