Driscoll Crumpler, 79, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, formerly of Clayton, NC, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024. Dris was born on January 31,1945 in Erwin, North Carolina to DB and Mabel Barbour. She graduated from Erwin High School in 1963. She was a dedicated healthcare worker for Dorothea Dix State Hospital in Raleigh, NC for more than thirty years. Dris was a longtime member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina before moving with her husband, Ron, to Bella Vista in 2013.
Dris loved the beach, enjoying many family vacations at Myrtle Beach. She was an avid bargain hunter, and would spend Saturdays visiting yard sales, or as she used to say, “In the streets!” She loved to decorate for holidays, especially Christmas, and was a passionate penguin and Longaburger basket collector. Her absolute favorite thing in the world was to be a Neenee to her two grandsons and watch them follow their passions. Neenee was one of their loudest cheerleaders on the ball field, basketball court, and in school. Her grandsons were her world!
Dris is preceded in death by her parents, DB and Mabel Barbour of Erwin, NC, and by her sister, Dawn Lucas also of Erwin.
Dris is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Ron Crumpler, her son Chris Crumpler, daughter-in-law, Heather Crumpler, her two grandsons Luke Crumpler, 20, and Drew Crumpler, 17, all of Bentonville, Arkansas, her brother-in-law, Joe Lucas of Erwin, NC, nephew Justin Lucas of Southport, NC, nephew Garrett Lucas of Erwin, NC, and many extended family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 10:00am - 11:00am at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
