Edna Louise (Harrell) Brown, 80, passed away at home on February 23, 2021. McLaurin Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Cary Church of Christ, Cary, NC.
Edna Brown was born on February 6, 1941 in Hampton, VA to John and Nellie (Harris) Harrell. She grew up in Hampton, and after graduation married James Brown III in 1959. They had three children. After residing in several other areas, including residing in California for fifty years, they finally settled in Clayton, NC. In addition to raising her family, Edna worked as a secretary within the education field. She was a very active member in the Church of Christ and made many lifelong friends and quite a few she considered her family over the 60 years of attendance.
She enjoyed cooking, painting, making cards for every occasion and even ones no one knew about. She enjoyed Elvis Presley and all his music. Her and her sisters in Christ would go to concerts all the time. She was an avid Bridge player and loved in person and online game play with friends. She very much enjoyed time with family, she loved going to dinners and enjoying many different types of food.
Edna was a sweet, caring and loving women. She was always there for her family and everyone she loved. She had a very giving spirit and wanted others to be happy. She was a woman of the Lord and wanted to ensure everyone could share in his word.
She loved all of her family and friends and made sure to be a constant in all their lives. Everyone will always remember and try to treat everyone as she would have. She is now where she has planned her whole life to end up, with the Lord in heaven.
Preceding Edna in death were her infant son David; parents John and Nellie; sister Peggy Rawls; and brother Buddy Harrell.
Edna is survived by her husband James Brown III, sons Timothy (Regina) Brown and Matthew Brown, Grandchildren Taylor, Megan, Alexander, and Matthew (Casey) Brown, great grandchild Olivia Rose Brown, as well as numerous friends and church family.
