Edwin Cisco Wilkerson Jr.

Born on December 3, 1938, in Greenville, North Carolina, Edwin was the son of the late Edwin C. Wilkerson and Agnes Gaskins Wilkerson. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1972.

Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division from 1961 to 1965. In 1972, he joined the United States Public Health Service, where he dedicated his career to caring for Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard service members and their families in military hospitals across the United States. His life was marked by service, compassion, and a deep commitment to others.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delaine Scarboro Wilkerson; his daughter, Laura Fountain, and her husband, Chris; his grandson, Lucas Fountain; his sister, Anne Vaughn; and his sister-in-laws, Anne McIntyre and Ellen Wilkerson.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Edwin Wilkerson Jr.
