Mrs. Elsie Mooneyham Benson, 86, of Clayton died Saturday, June 4th at her home. She was born June 18, 1929 in Johnston County daughter of the late Ivan and Luna Griggs Mooneyham. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Swade Benson, a son, Ken Benson, a grandson, Richard Allen, a great granddaughter, Lisa Allen, a brother, Willard Mooneyham, and a sister, Evelyn Jones.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 8th at 11:00 A.M. in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel in Clayton conducted by Rev. Alan Price. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
She is survived by four children, Brenda Allen of Clayton, Connie Aycock of Raleigh, Jerry Benson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Allison Collier of Newport, a foster daughter, Lynn Till of TX, three sisters, Mabel Howard, Dorothy Boykin, and Violet Stevens, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 7th from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at McLaurin funeral Home.
