A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following service.
She was born in Wayne County to the late Esthel Cephus Edwards and the late Helen LaMoin Coker Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband,
Wayne Deuell Fryar; and dear siblings, Wade (Peggy), Ray
(Phyllis), and Shirley (James).
She is survived by her two children, Arliss (Mel)
Ferrell and Alan (Emily) Fryar; sister, Wanda Edwards; and
the light of her life, her grandchildren; Amber and Crystal
Ferrell and Morgan and Colin Fryar.
She leaves behind a legacy of avid readers (including an
English teacher and a librarian), and recipes that are
“yummy in the tummy” that will continue to live on
through her family. Her infectious giggle will be especially
missed by all who loved her.
She gave sage advice, had a listening ear, was the best
mother and nana/nanny that anyone could ever ask for,
and had a love of popcorn that defies reason. She was
beloved by many, a true gentle and thoughtful spirit.
She will be missed dearly, but we will always be able to see
her in every butterfly, bird, blooming flower, or squirrel
that scampers past.
