Forrest Glenn Johnson, 82, passed away on July 20, 2022 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born in Johnston County, North Carolina on October 5, 1939 to the late Noyd Lee and Annie Capps Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Dale Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Rosa Lou Lee Johnson, daughter Dr. Jennifer Lynn Johnson, of Randleman, NC, and brothers, Donald Lee Johnson of Wake Forest, NC, Larry Wayne Johnson of Garner, NC, and Michael Keith Johnson of Signal Hill, CA.
He joined the Air Force after graduating from Cleveland High School. He was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC. After his service, he returned home and helped his father on the farm, ran a general country store, and later worked as a correctional officer for the North Carolina Department of Correction until his retirement.
He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Garner, NC where he served as an usher and treasurer. He enjoyed the mountains and spent most of his retirement in his mountain home until he moved to Asheboro, NC to be near his daughter.
His family wants to thank the members of Community Home Care and Hospice for their outstanding care during his final days.
The family will receive friends at McLaurin Funeral Home on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 am with Rev. Lynda Ferguson presiding.
