Frederick Scott White, 51, of Clayton, NC, passed away on June 11th, 2018 in Clayton.

Scott was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Lynn and William “Bill” Winchester White III on June 18th, 1966. He graduated from NC State University and received his Master’s and Doctorate Degrees at George Washington University. He married Beth Keough on June 29th, 1996 in Washington D.C. They raised three beautiful daughters, Ellie, Claire and Levering.

Above all else, Scott loved being with his family, Beth, Ellie, Claire, and Levering, who were his treasures. He was the anchor and rock of their family. Scott was a loving husband and he cherished spending time with his wife, Beth. He loved the time he spent with his dad, playing tennis and walking the beach. He was blessed to have his mother live on his street and was her constant support and friend. He always looked forward to seeing his brother, Chip, and talking to him on the phone. He was lucky to have two step-parents, Sandra White and Ed Philibin, who were more like parents to him. He loved his multiple nieces and nephews and all of his friends. He was loved by all who met him.

Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents, William Winchester White, Jr and Mary Ann White, Frederick and Elizabeth Eyster, and his father-in-law, James Pellettieri.

Scott is survived by his wife, Beth; his daughters, Ellie, Claire, and Levering; his brother, Chip; his step-brothers, Craig Hales and Edward D. Philibin; his step-sisters, Paige Gordo and Deborah Durrett and his loving parents, Lynn & Ed Philibin and Bill & Sandra White.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Greater Heights United Methodist Church, a place where Scott always found peace, comfort, and inspiration. Please mail to 176 Townsend Drive Clayton, NC 27527.

Dear Beth, Lynn, Bill, and all Scott's family

I didn't get to spend much time with you all as adults, but I do have many fond memories as kids and all the good times we spent together on the beach. Family. We need to cherish each moment we have together. It sounds like you all did just that. And Scott's presence, his love, his devotion will live within you all. I found this picture in Becky's album that she brought with her to my Dad's memorial. I just thought it was classic and had to have a copy. So much joy in this kid.

My love to you all.

When I have been around your family, it is so obvious what a happy and loving family you are- I can not imagine your heartbreak, but I know you have so many friends and family praying for you in this time of great tragedy. Scott seemed like a wonderful and devoted husband and father. What an enormous loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Scott and I were friends and classmates at GW. I even had the pleasure of attending his and Beth's wedding. Though we lost touch over the years, I was thrilled when we reconnected on FB. I'm so thankful for having crossed paths with such a gentle, kind, caring soul. And the timing of his dry wit always made me laugh. As a first responder I see how life can change on a dime each and every shift. But having heard about the sudden loss of Scott was shocking, and has hit me in a different way. This graduation picture seems like only yesterday. I can't imagine the heartbreak Beth, his daughters and entire family are feeling. My most heart felt condolences and prayers are with you all.
