

Glen Paul Double of Garner, NC passed away on March 19, 2024, surrounded by his family after a long illness. Glen was born on October 13, 1937, in Sylvania, OH to the late Paul F. and Grace Beebe Double. In 1957, Glen joined the U.S. Navy and married Jeanne Ann (Lewis) of Toledo. Together they relocated many times during their 55-year marriage, finally settling in Clayton, NC. Glen was a graduate of Burnham High School (Sylvania), Toledo University (Toledo), Wayne State (Detroit), and North Carolina State University (Raleigh). After retiring from IBM, he began his second career as a teacher at NCSU and private tutor in math, physics, and astrophysics. Glen loved his family, lifelong learning, being a teacher, and the Lord.
In addition to his parents, Glen is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; his daughter, Jane; and his granddaughter, Emily. He is survived by his sister, Diana Ice of Lawrence, KS; his three children: Ann Marie (Tom) Drucker of Glenmont, NY, Mary Elizabeth (Glenn) Marcy of Cary, NC, and Paul Thomas (Myrna) Double of Valrico, FL; his seven grandchildren: T.J., Jeanne, Peter, Mary, Drew, Megan, and Brendan; and two great grandchildren: Hazoor and Sohaila.
A funeral mass for Glen will be held at Saint Ann Catholic Church at 4057 US-70 Bus in Clayton, NC on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The family will welcome friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Friends and family are invited to stay for a luncheon reception immediately following in Saint Ann’s parish center. The interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, OH at a later date.
