Heather was born in Bridgetown, St Michael, Barbados on August 15, 1934 to the late Allan Arthur Deane and Enid Atherly Deane. She came to the United States in 1963, after marrying a US Navy serviceman from West Virginia who was stationed in Barbados. He brought her to West Virginia where she saw snow for the first time. She became a US citizen in 1974, and was very proud of her adopted country. In 2004 she moved to Clayton, NC and lived the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby L. Bowen, Retired US Navy. Two sisters, Shelia McWatt, and Peggy Banfield, and her brother Patterson (Pat) Deane.
She is survived by her three daughters, Tessa Armbrister and husband Kenneth of Atoka, TN, Melissa Ray and husband David of Garner, NC, and Carolyn Pendry and husband Daryl of Clayton, NC. Six grandchildren, Dr. Cara Robinson and husband Jon of Nashville, TN, Robert Armbrister and Marie Enger of St. Louis, MO, Zoe Ray and Paige Ray both of Garner, NC, Jake Pendry and Heath Pendry both of Clayton, NC. Two great-grandchildren, Miki Robinson and Beau Robinson of Nashville, TN. Sisters, Elza Gloumeau of Barbados, and Denise McWatt of Canada, and many nieces and nephews.
She loved going to the beach and spending time with family and friends was very important to her.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC. Internment will be at a later date, at Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton, WV.
