Mrs. Irma Grimmer Carroll, 94, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born August 20, 1921 in Heidelberg, Germany daughter of the late Friedrich and Rosa Grimmer. Her husband, Swade Carroll, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Carroll was an avid ballroom dancer for many years, having danced into her early 80’s. She retired from the State of North Carolina in 1981. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the McLaurin Funeral Home chapel in Clayton conducted by Dennis Pollock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30 – 11:00 A.M. She is survived by a son, Swade Carroll, Jr. and wife Lynne of Princeton, a daughter, Ellen Olsen and husband Neil of Fallston, MD, a granddaughter, Taylor Carroll, and a cousin, Doris Turano of Germany.
