Jack Herndon Joyner, 85, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at his home in Clayton, NC. Jack was born in High Point, NC on Feb 9, 1936 but spent his youth in Jacksonville, Florida. In the 1970’s Jack moved back to North Carolina, finally settling in Clayton, in 1992.
He worked in Real Estate in Raleigh in the 1980’s. During this time, he met his wife Lynn.
Anyone who knew Jack, knew that he loved cooking for others, whether it was for a few people or a crowd of hundreds. Everyone has their favorite “Jack Dish”. One of his passions was cooking for the Raleigh Rescue Mission. He competed in their Annual Big Bar/B/Q Showdown, where he won Best of the Best twice along with several First-Place awards. He was a Godly Man and loved his fellow Believers. He imaginative, independent, wise, and unconventional. He will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, Dec 16th, 2021, at XRC, 277 Guy Road, Clayton, NC 27520. The family will hold a private burial later.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Lynn Joyner, and daughter Renee Joy, (Rich Joy) along with extended family and his 3 fur babies, Molly, Georgia, and Brandi.
