

Jackie Fussell, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 27th surrounded by her family, and in the comfort of God's love. She called Pine Level, Wilmington, and Clayton, NC home for all the years of her life. She leaves behind a legacy defined by strength, intelligence, faith in Jesus, and deep love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Jackie was a strong and smart woman who lived with determination and grace. She valued independence, wisdom, and family above all else, and those values are reflected in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
In later years, Jackie faced Alzheimer’s disease with quiet courage. Though the illness changed many things, it never diminished the strength of her spirit, her wit, or the meaningful presence she held in the lives of those who loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Lee Fussell, Jr.; her son, Jamie Fussell (Karen); her daughter, Juli Fussell-Piazza (Tom); her granddaughter, Carie Loosman (Brandon); and her brothers, Linwood Price (Bonnie) and Jimmie Herald Price; and her sister, Judy Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Letha Price; her sisters, Marie Lane (Ray) and Betty Lou Lassiter (Pee Wee); and her brother, Curtis Price (Betty Fae).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 3:00 until 5:00pm at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton. A service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 3:30pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jackie's name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 (www.act.alz.org).
Jackie Fussell will be remembered as a woman of strength and intelligence, whose love and legacy will endure.
