

6120 Krandon Drive, Raleigh died on November 19, 2016. Born in Harnett County August 3, 1928 he spent most of his life living in Wake County. He was the son of Hal B. Beasley and Madie Peacock Beasley of Willow Springs.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Edith Wilkins Beasley, infant son Sam Raymond Beasley, his parents, his sister Clara Langdon of Garner and two brothers Avery and Donald Beasley of Willow Springs. Surviving are his daughter Pam Galloway, husband Dave Galloway of Raleigh and one grandson Joel Galloway, wife Ashley, great granddaughter Hallie and a second great grandchild due in May 2017 of Marbury, Alabama. He is survived by six sisters, Mavis Denning of Raleigh, Geraleen Rose of Rocky Mount, Sarah Garrett of Phoenix City, Alabama, Betty Ray of Raleigh, Marie Blackwell of Wendell, Rosa Johnson of Smithfield, and one brother, H.B. Beasley of Statesville N. C. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church since 1964. He had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and President of his Sunday School Class, the Emmanuel Class.
James was employed at Carolina Power and Light Co. (Progress Energy) for 38 years. He retired as the Distribution Transformer Shop Foreman in Garner. He also held several other positions including Foreman of Salvage Facility and Electrician during his time there.
James served in the U. S. Army for two years active duty and six years in Army Reserves. He was discharged in November of 1960.
James was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a hardworking, respectable and a honest man. He loved the Lord and his family very much. He never failed to set a positive example for his family. He spent 70 years with the love of his life, Edith. They did everything together and worked to provide for their daughter and her family. He loved his son-in-law Dave as if he were his own son. His grandson Joel was the light of his life and he never failed to use any opportunity to teach him the values he held dear. He provided such a powerful and positive influence on our lives. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the Chapel at McLaurin Funeral Home with interment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
