James Robert Pollard, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born, January 1, 1945, in Johnston County, he was the son of the late C. Ervin and Leone Morris Pollard. In his 80 years on earth, he became a brother, husband, father, and a Papa. He was a Clayton native and loved to cheer on the Clayton Comets Football Team. He went on to marry the love of his life, Miriam Hicks Pollard in 1965 who was by his side until the end.
In addition to his wife, Miriam, he is also survived by his children, Jimmy Pollard and Beverly Pollard (Candace); grandchildren, Taylor Brown (Jason) and Alston (Emma). He was far beyond blessed to have 4 incredible great grandchildren, Jason Brown, Jr., Brennly Brown, AJ Kornegay and Henry Kornegay. Three siblings surrounded him with love, Donnie Pollard, Steve Pollard, and Celia Whitley and all blessed James with many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating James’ life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service. The interment will follow the services at Clyde’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Wendell, NC.
