Her Celebration of Life will be held at the McLaurin Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4 from 4-6pm.
Jeanne was a beautiful, charismatic woman who had a deep love of nature, photography and art. She traveled as much as possible to further explore the world and the adventures that came with it. Fiji, Europe, Bahamas, and various areas around the United States were some of her favorites. She had so many places she still wanted to go and was unable to, Scandinavia and Africa being just a few of the unobtained travel goals. It was her desire that others continue to enjoy the world and traveling and to think of her while we explored.
She was unapologetically herself and a never waving bastion of confidence in who she was. She inspired others to be themselves by seeing how much joy she had in the freedom of being herself. She always told you exactly what was on her mind, and yet guarded her secrets closely. She lived life to the fullest and was never prepared to let go without a fight. She flowed through life and would find a better way if the path was impeded. Each road block would be met with a new destination and adventure.
It was not just in the spoken words that she inspired, but also in her silences. She found silence could be calming, and would soak in a quiet moment. Some of the best moments with Jeanne have no words, just the ease of the moment.
Jeanne was a notorious penny pincher, but she preferred the term frugal. She loved a good deal, bought items in bulk, and wouldn’t let something go unless it was on her terms. Her house is full of her treasures and finds, and there isn’t an empty space to be found.
She is survived by her sister Judith Strickling and her husband Doug Moore, niece Erica Strickling, nephew John Strickling and his wife Allison Strickling and their daughters: Faith, Airis, and Sophia, niece Amy August and her daughter Evelyn. Also survived by her best friends Kevin Lamke and Karla Johns, as well as an extensive network of additional family, friends, and loved ones.
She was proceeded in death by the love of her life Del Petty.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Park Conservation Association or the SECU Hospice House.
