Born November 24, 1952 in Johnston County, he was the son of Marie H. Johnson and the late Leon E. Johnson. A US Army veteran of the Viet Nam era, He served as a medic stationed in Germany. After his military service, he attended NC State University earning a BS in Psychology and a BS in Architecture and Environmental Design.
Jeff was an Eagle Scout earning the award in 1968 and also earned the God and County award through Whitley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Over the years, he worked in real estate as a broker, instructor, and property manager. In retirement, he authored two books and was just finishing the third in his Moonsong trilogy at the time of his death.
He enjoyed photography taking many pictures of his family and his travels in Germany and France. He was also an avid collector of stamps and first day covers.
Surviving in addition to his mother are sisters Pamela J. Earp and husband John of Smithfield, Ginger J. Tart and husband Jeff of Clayton; daughter Miranda Liu and husband Peter of Raleigh, son Jeffrey S. Johnson and wife Kate of Kenly; grandsons Brayden Johnson of Kenly and Kian Liu of Raleigh; step-daughters Elizabeth Stocum of Raleigh and Jennifer Villareal of Wendell; many nieces and nephews; and a special cat named Yoda.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Jeff on a date to be determined. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may be in made to a charity of one’s choice.
