

Jerry Lee Carroll, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully. He was born on October 29, 1944, and lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, career, and the simple joys he loved most.
He began his career with Amoco Oil Company, where he advanced through dedication and perseverance to become Manager of Refinery Operations. He later served the State of North Carolina as a Facilities Manager for the Department of Corrections, where he was known for his leadership and strong work ethic. He was a proud graduate of North Carolina State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and went on to receive his MBA from the College of William & Mary.
On August 22, 1965, he married Dianne Stallings, and together they built a life centered on family.
He found joy in life’s everyday pleasures—playing golf, bowling, solving Sudoku puzzles, collecting classic cars and coins, and especially cheering on his children and grandchildren at their ballgames. He loved the beach, especially time spent at the beach house in Ocean Isle Beach NC and was happiest when “riding around and wasting time,” soaking in the moments that mattered most. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Clayton NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth and Nora Carroll, and brothers, Billy Carroll and Gene Carroll.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne; his sons, Lee (Nancy) and Tim (Angie); his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Allyson, Peyton, Eli, and Ty; and his great-grandchild, Gemma. He is also survived by his brothers, Steve Carroll and Mike Carroll.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the quiet, meaningful way he lived his life.
A Gathering of Friends will be held at First Baptist Church of Clayton, Fellowship Hall, 411 N Fayetteville St, Clayton, North Carolina 27520, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, beginning at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the General Fund of the First Baptist Church PO Box 35 Clayton, NC 27528.
