Jimmy was a man who truly enjoyed his career, working for a trucking company driving dump trucks for J.P. Edwards. He was also a man of God, being a faithful member of Smithfield Church of God. There he was involved in many things, including being the president of the men’s fellowship and a past leader of the Royal Rangers. Being young at heart, he always enjoyed being around kids at church and especially his own family.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Barbara Murphy; children, Nikki Best and her children, Majesti and Trinidee, Justin Murphy and his children, Taralynn and Grayson, and Ashley Murphy and her children, Kamron and Khali; siblings, Brenda Grubbs (Lee), and George Bissette(Marliese); special niece, Shirley Price (DJ) and her children, Tristan and Zavion; nieces and nephews, Jeanette Schaffer and her children, Tammy Lynn Galvin and her children, Aaron Bissette and his son; Jonathan Holmes and Elizabeth Holmes; mother-in-law, Ann Jones; and father-in-law, Bobby Holmes.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 10:00-11:00am, with funeral beginning at 11:00am at Smithfield Church of God, 1710 W Market St, Smithfield, NC. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton, NC.
