Jimmy to family and Jim to friends. A resident of Fuquay Varina, NC, born and raised in the community of Daisy, SC. He was preceded in death by parents Jack Leon Parker Sr. and Bertha Causey Parker, son Eric Parker and brother Jack Leon Parker Jr., sister-in-law Inez Parker and brother-in-law Edgar E. Gooding.
In his early years Jimmy helped his family on the farm. He also formed a band with friends playing rock and roll at various gatherings. He served his country with honor in the United States Army near the end of the Vietnam War. He was talented in music and drawing and discovered a talent for working as a machinist, a job he enjoyed for many years. He enjoyed spending time on the North Carolina coast with family and friends and trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains as well. Jimmy had a big and kind heart. He also had a mischievous sense of humor that could catch you off guard and kept you on your toes. He loved his family and is loved so dearly by his family. While he will be absent in body he will always be with us in our hearts and we will see him again on the other side of this life and never be parted again. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy, his stepdaughter, Debbie (Rock) and stepson, Mike (Nicole) and grandchildren, Aidan (Kyra) Connor and Anna Lia, his three sisters, Kathleen, Julia (Don), Lesia (Tony) and nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration celebrating Jim's life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
