

John William Francis Duwel Jr., age 83, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was born in Queens, New York on April 2, 1940 to the late John William Duwel and the late Helen Yonkers Duwel.
John was a Veteran and served honorably of the United States Coast Guard for eight years then began working within the family business, Du-Well Construction of three generations side by side with his father. After the passing of his father, John continued the success of Du-Well Construction until his own passing. He was well known and liked in the community and had many friends that he held dear to his heart.
John was passionate about woodworking and his pastime hobbies included fishing from his boat on the ocean, his dogs, RV camping and traveling the world with his beloved late wife of 43 years, Catherine Beryl Perry Duwel.
John is survived by his daughters, Donna Duwel Sulton (Joe), Christine Duwel Martin (Steve) and his son, John Duwel; grandchildren, Katherine Jones (Josh), Ashley Avery (Adam), Bridgette McDaniel (Brad); great grandchildren, Mason Jones, Logan and Dean Norsen and Hayden McDaniel.
John was blessed to have many roles in his life such as being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend.
Pop, your good spirit is within all of us. You are in our thoughts and prayers for as long as we live.
There will be no calling hours or funeral in honor of John’s wishes.
