Kenneth “Ken” Matthew Richardson, age 77, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at UNC Johnston Health in Clayton, North Carolina. Born in Los Angeles, California, on December 20, 1948, he was a son to the late Fred and Reba Richardson.
Ken attended the University of Tulsa for 3 years before joining the US Army to serve his country. He retired from Ceridian after a 30 year career as an instructional designer and technical writer. Ken was very active in the local senior center, joining in with exercise classes, trivia clubs, book clubs, writing clubs, and other various activities. He was also a member of a film group. Ken and his wife, Kathy, enjoyed traveling and fly fishing. His sense of humor was appreciated by all his friends and family. He was a one of a kind man who would do anything for anybody. He also loved sharing his wisdom with others, whether that be a random fun fact or teaching his grandchildren to play chess. Ken would want us to celebrate his new beginning!
Per Ken’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Richardson; children, Shannon Buffaloe, Julie Thibodeaux, Michael Sharkey, John Sharkey, Brandon Mitchell, and Julie Tripp; brothers, Tom and Don Richardson, and several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
