home on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Larry was born September 22, 1949 at the
Royce Boyette home place on Loop Road in Johnston County to the late Royce and Algia Cooke Boyette.
Larry graduated as a Clayton Comet in the class of 1967. He then completed four
years at East Carolina University majoring in mathematics. Larry chose to follow his passion for agriculture and came home to the family farm.
In 1982 he married Kay Mitchell. They created a life with their three children and
immersed themselves in the Archer Lodge, White Oak Baptist Church and
agricultural communities. He enjoyed his round table discussions with his friends
at the local country stores - affectionately referred to as Moss’s, Tommy’s,
Charles’s and Percy’s. Additionally, every Sunday he was a member of the
“Romeo Club” that met at the Clayton McDonalds.
Larry never worked a day in his life, because he loved what he did to make a living
and provide for his family. All while teaching his children with a steady hand and
unwavering perseverance, Larry used his skill of innovation and talent for finding
niche markets and opened several businesses including The Stump Dump, Inc.,
Mom’s Mums, JKLM Berries, and Boyette’s Loop Road Mini Storage. He
operated these businesses while running Boyette Farms. Larry had a great love and
interest in flue cured tobacco and searched ways to make his crops efficient and
profitable.
Larry and Kay so loved their life of working together on their farm and in their
businesses alongside their children. They took great pride in their family and
strived to follow and build on the principles their parents, the Boyette’s and
Mitchell’s, set for them.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kay Mitchell Boyette; daughter, Joy
Evelynn Driver; sons, Royce Mitchell Boyette and wife, Caroline, Larry Jordan
Boyette and wife, Erin; grandchildren, Savannah Elizabeth Driver, Emma Gray
Boyette, Eli Swain Boyette and Baby Girl Boyette (to arrive any day). In addition
to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Percy Glenn Boyette.
A private memorial service will be held outdoors on the Boyette Family Farm with
the family receiving friends and family on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 5:00 PM
to 8:00 PM at Boyette Home, 611 Loop Rd, Archer Lodge, NC.
