

Leonard Ralph Sokola, Sr. of Clayton, NC, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on April 12, 1933, in Minersville, PA. He was the son of a miner and one of six children. He came from humble beginnings where life was hard but good.
He graduated from Minersville High School and then married his first wife, Mary, who was a widow with two sons, Jack and Bill Bizjak. Leonard and Mary moved to Delaware and were married 43 years. They had three children, Leon, Larry and Darlene. Leonard had a very successful 39 year long career with General Motors Corporation.
Leonard was passionate about and actively involved with his inventions and patents. Leonard first met and fell in love with his wife, Noreen, at a car show where he was exhibiting his 1958 convertible Corvette. They were both car enthusiasts.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Sokola and Frances Simosky Sokola, his siblings, Al, Ray, George and John, his first wife, Mary, and his children, Darlene and Leon (Leonard, Jr.).
He is survived by his wife, Noreen Sokola, his sister, Joan Fogerty, his son, Larry, and his stepsons, Jack and Bill Bizjak. Leonard was a very kind and generous man who was loved by all. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced
