

Mable was born on January 19, 1932 in Freed, West Virginia to the late Alfred and Ollie Ford. She retired from ITT/Alcatel Communications in 1993. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh for 51 years. In retirement, she was active with her Seniors Group, Sunday School Class, and her card and bingo groups. She was also an accomplished craftswoman.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Edward Sampson, son-in-law Kenneth Earl Strickland; brothers Avery Bud Ford, Terry Ford, Billy Ford, and Anes Ford; sisters Josephine Church, Dina Ford, and Marzine Wilson.
She was the foundation of her family, and will be greatly missed by her son Richard A. Sampson Sr (Marcia); her daughter Karen Johnson; grandchildren Jonathan, Richard Jr (Ahna), and Eric (Ashley)Sampson, Heather (Jeffrey) Sellers, Kenneth (Robin) Strickland, Kevin Strickland, Will Johnson, and Brittany (Justin) Strickland. Her great-grandchildren are Gage, Alex, and Kendra Strickland; Ethan, Hayden, and Avenly Sampson; and Jacob and Caleb Sellers; and Braydon; and great-great-grandchildren are Rayleigh, Lily, and Lucy Strickland. She will also be missed by her many friends.
Her family is thankful and grateful for the loving care she received at Rex Hospital, especially the Coronary Care Unit.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 29, at 1:00 pm at McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 US Hwy 70 Business West, Clayton NC 27520, with burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Pastor Richard Childress is officiating. The family will receive visitors at 12 noon at the funeral home and after the graveside service at Mable’s residence.
