Marguerite was born and raised in Washington D.C. She met her husband while he was in the military and stationed in Washington, D.C. Once she married, she moved to N.C. where she spent the remainder of her life and raised her family.
Marguerite was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother (Maw-Maw) who is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Craig) and Dana. She also leaves behind two grandsons who were her greatest joy, Trent and Dexter along with many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marguerite is preceded in death by her husband, Derald, and all her siblings along with her mother and father.
Marguerite was truly a great mother whose impact will be forever felt by her family. She was a selfless woman whose passing left an unfillable space in the hearts of her loved ones. Her ability to sacrifice, provide support, and examples of work ethic will forever be engrained in the lives of her children.
She also had a personality larger than life. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed sharing memories from the past and having conversations with family and friends. One of her favorite past times was to attend family reunions so she could see as much of the family as possible. You could often find her making her rounds to see and talk to everyone.
Marguerite spent her career devoted to mortgage banking. She was a well-known mortgage banker in Raleigh, NC and she was very active in many organizations that support the mortgage banking industry. She also taught real estate classes part-time at Wake Technical Community College for many years. Later in her career, she opened her own Credit Bureau so she could support local mortgage companies and provide credit report services to those who were qualifying for mortgage loans.
The family will hold a small graveside service for immediate family at a future date. The family wishes to thank Amorem Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living in Lenoir, NC for their loving care and support.
