She was born March 18 1928 in Vincennes, Indiana to Glen Howell and Corrine
Brandes McCurdy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J. V. a
brother, Glenn B. McCurdy of Albion, Ill.; a sister, Eleanor Mosbarger Guerrant
and brother-in-law Robert C. Guerrant, of Dix, Illinois, a daughter, Lana Tapp
Blue, of Calhoun, Kentucky.
When she married J. V. Tapp in 1970, she had two daughters and he had three
daughters. She is survived by the daughter she lived with, Dr. Christine Harman of
Clayton, North Carolina; daughter Glenda H. Miller (Steve) of Jacksonville
Florida; Marie Tapp Seese (Norman) of Galena, Ohio; Ann Tapp Costellow (Troy)
of Russellville, Kentucky. Grandchildren: Elizabeth Miller Kozieracki (Ryan) and
Tony Miller (Stephanie), all of Jacksonville, Florida; Sarah Seese (Jason) Linscott
of Powell, Ohio; Dr. Emily Seese Hoffman (Adam) of Powell, Ohio; Grant Seese
(Julie) of Columbus, Ohio; Dr. Dan Costellow (Jenny) of Bowling Green,
Kentucky; Mike Costellow (Amanda) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; David
(Aundria) Costellow of Rossville, Georgia; Neal (Harmony) Blue of Owensboro,

Laura McCurdy, of Albion, Illinois, was very special to Marilou. She had many
nieces and nephews. A special nephew, Tom Mosbarger, of Centralia, Illinois, was
more like a brother than nephew as he was only eight years younger.
Marilou was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Henderson,
Kentucky, and was a Kentucky Colonel. She graduated from Grayville, Illinois,
high school in 1946. She played in the high school band for four years, was art
editor of the school paper and yearbook and acted in the several of the school’s
plays. She worked for many years for R. L. Jeffries Trucking Company of
Evansville, Indiana. She retired as a cashier from Community Methodist Hospital
in Henderson, Kentucky. After a short retirement, she went back to work as
administrative assistant to Director Steve Rust of The Gathering Place (senior
center) in Henderson. In addition to operating the office, she took seniors on many
day trips all around the tri-state area and was an escort on two trips for the Center,
one to Orlando, Florida and the other to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She and Mr.
Rust worked very hard to make The Gathering Place a home away from home for
the members. She and her two buddies, Ruth Jones and Jo Flint, decorated the
center for every holiday and special occasion during the years. It gave her so much
pleasure working with the seniors and doing for them.
Marilou will be (was) cremated and her ashes will be buried beside J. V at
Roselawn Cemetery in Henderson, Kentucky. Burial with close family will be at a
later date and a memorial service will be held at Chapel Hill UMC in Henderson.
