Marilyn Joy Deans
August 4, 1955 – March 15, 2023

Marilyn Joy Deans, 67, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, North Carolina after a long period of time battling declining health.
A memorial service to celebrate Joy’s life will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, North Carolina with Pastor Morris Sanders.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home.
She was born in Johnston County, North Carolina on August 4, 1955 to the late William Curtis Deans and the late Elgie Pearl Langley Deans Bass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Curtis Deans, and her stepfather, Roy Bass.
Joy was a Veteran of the United States Army having come out as a Sergeant. She was employed with the United States Postal Services for many years and finished up her career working at many different jobs. She enjoyed the outdoors, reading and many other things.
Joy is survived by her daughter, Megan Deans; three grandchildren, Chloe, Caroline and Timothy; aunt Ann and uncle Percy Davis; nieces and nephews, Brook and Ken Price, Heather Deans, Hunter Jones, Colby Jones, Olivia Deans, Aubrey Deans and Bravin Holmes.
