Marvin Yates Williams, 78, son of the late Charlie and Irene Johnson Williams passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Saturday in the Chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Lockamy officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Mr. Williams, a lifetime tobacco farmer, served on the board of directors of the Cleveland Fire Department for 16 years and was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife; Peggy L. Williams, daughters; Sherry W. Wheeler and her husband Glenn, Karen W. Pope and her husband Kim, Lisa W. Lee and her husband Ray all of the Cleveland community, grandchildren; Rodney Creech, Tayler Carter, Trey Lee, Brittany House, Dylan Lee and Ty Lee, a sister-in-law; Patricia H. Williams of Panama City, FL, nephew; Charles Williams of Panama City, FL. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother; Daylon Lloyd Williams.The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2017 at McLaurin Funeral Home from 7:00 until 9:00 pm While flowers are accepted, memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Vol. Fire Department, 9039 Cleveland Rd., Clayton, NC 27520 or to Shiloh Baptist Church, 3414 N. Mrs Peggy I am sincerely sorry as I know firsthand Marvin was your true best friend. I am grateful for the many days I shared learning a little of everything from Rudolph and Marvin. He left a huge impression on me as I am sure many others. Thoughts prayers and love sent to the whole family.
