Mary Rose Canady Colavito, 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Saturday, September 11, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in Clayton, NC on November 25, 1957, the daughter of the late Ruffin and Aline Canady. Mary Rose graduated from Clayton High School in 1976, married the love of her life, Chris Colavito, and together they raised three beautiful children. Professionally, she worked for Carolina Power & Light (CP&L) from 1976-1997 and for the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) since 1997.
Mary Rose will be remembered by her family and friends as someone with a kind and gentle spirit who served the Lord by serving others. She radiated joy with her bright smile, brought laughter everywhere she went, and poured her heart into her family and friends, always valuing others above herself (Phil 2:3). She loved her community and her church. She was a member of the Felicia Book Club of Clayton, and she enjoyed singing in the choir at First Baptist Church in Garner. Her home away from home was in Emerald Isle, NC where many cherished memories were made. Those who loved her are many, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at First Baptist Church in Garner, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, September 17, 2021 at McLaurin Funeral Home. Mary Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Christopher Lee Colavito, Jr. and a brother, Thomas Ray Canady. She is survived by her husband, Christopher Lee Colavito Sr., daughters, Lindsey Colavito of Clayton, Ashley Spates and husband, Micheal of Fuquay-Varina, sisters, Ruby Atchison of Clayton, Sandra Astudillo of Las Vegas, Judy Irwin and husband, Bill of Clayton, her brother, Jim Canady of Hope Mills, and special nieces and nephews whom she adored. The Colavito family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the many acts of kindness, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time.
