Mary.... there are not enough words to share her personality and her genuine care for all. She always kept you laughing. I had the honor of teaching with her at clayton primary and also the honor of her being the teacher of our daughter Britni. I think Britni was already carolina blue but I Know she was after Mrs. Sauls taught her. Mary adorned our front door with welcome home after the birth of our twins. These small acts of kindness she shared with all!!! And these small acts of kindness we remember and cherish. Her life was full because she gave so much!! Rest In Peace

My thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for our love ones lost in death can be reassuring.

Elizabeth and Lawrence,  Mary and I talked for a good while at your Dad's wake.  It ia hard to believe that you lost both parents so close togather.  Tony was my nephew and I will miss both of them so much. Mary was a very special person and I loved her. I only knew Mrs. Sauls for one year, eighteen years ago, but she made a huge impact on who I am today by being my first-grade teacher.  I have a thousand memories surrounding your mother and am sorry for your loss.  At an age where difference is not always a good thing, she inspired me to "persevere" (a vocabulary word that became my theme that year).  She also encouraged me to write, an activity that I still do today.  May God grant you peace and courage in this difficult time.

Our condolences to  Mary's family and friends.  I was a teacher during the time that Mary was at what used to be Clayton Primary School.  The children loved her, and she loved them!  She used to enjoy arguing with our son, Ben, over Carolina and State ball games.  She was always joking around.  Mary was a good person.  I will never forget the time when we lost our home to a fire, Mary walked through the snow to the rescue squad building and took me to her house where she fed me lunch -a bacon and jelly sandwich.  She cared about people.   She was a friend to all who knew her.  Mary will be missed  very much.

Mary was a fun person with a big smile. We lost touch after I moved to Florida in the 70s but I always remembered her fondly. She was accomplished in so many areas but most of all she connected with people. It can be truly be said of her, "Well done good and faithful servant."

Elizabeth, Austin, and precious Dylan, we are so very sorry for your loss.  We enjoyed singing in the choir with your Mom/Mama Mary for many years and that also afforded us opportunities to see and chat with first Austin and then Dylan, who was especially fond of "Mr. Donald Duck". What love she felt for you guys! She was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

I'm so sorry Elizabeth and Lawrence.  Mary was one of the very best teachers I had in Clayton.  I'm so glad my family kept in touch with her over the years.  It was so wonderful to see her at my wedding in 2008.  So sweet of her to make the trip.  My thoughts are with you all.

I was saddened to hear about the loss of a special lady and friend.  Just know that my sincere prayers are with you all at this time.  There is nothing like a mother's love.  Clayton is a bit dimmer without Mary in our lives.

Clayton has lost an icon.  She was a "hoot" and I was blessed to know her.  We didn't agree on everything but she still made the world a brighter place.

What a marvelous teacher and friend Mary was!  She was a supportive mentor to all her fellow teachers possessing a caring, positive attitude with hundreds of loving students to her credit.  We will deeply miss her.
