Matthew John Austin, Gunner’s Mate First Class (EXW/SW) with the United States Navy, died on June 30, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home at 10:00 am with burial following at Knollwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Surviving are his wife, Katarina Eyler; son, Landon Bentley Austin; step daughter, Remington Rose Forbuss; parents, Michael and Angie Austin; brother, Zachary Austin; maternal grandmother, Jackie Wall and husband Steve; paternal grandmother, Ann Austin; paternal grandfather, Jimmy Austin and wife, Debbie; nephew, Leland Hiram Austin. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harold Jernigan; maternal great grandmother, Allie Jernigan; maternal great grandparents, Elsie and George Godwin; paternal great grandmother, Lola Lee Hughes; paternal great grandparents, Laura Lee and Hiram Austin. While flowers are appreciated, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
