Mavorine Faircloth McLeod, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 peacefully at her home. She was born in Johnston County, NC on December 19, 1932, the daughter of the late Barry and Lillie Faircloth. Mavorine graduated from Cleveland High School, Class of 1950. She furthered her education and graduated from Peace College in 1952. She was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church of Clayton for over 68 years, serving as a deacon, WMU director, and Sunday school teacher. Mavorine retired from the North Carolina State School of Veterinary Medicine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delton Linwood (Tom) McLeod and her brother Graham Earl Faircloth.
A funeral service for Mavorine will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 411 N Fayetteville St, Clayton, NC. Entombment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with the family receiving friends immediately following the committal service at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum 12830 US 70 Bus Hwy W. Clayton.
She is survived by her sons, all of Clayton, Brent McLeod and wife Julie, Don McLeod and wife Bonnie, Jody McLeod and wife Amelia; her grandchildren, Ashley Jones (Matthew), Troy McLeod (Sharlene), Nathan McLeod (Allison), Kristin McLamb, Alexis McLeod, Amber Lary (Chris) and Andrew Debnam (Nikki); her great grandchildren, Parker and Kennedy Jones, Levi and Mason McLeod, Riley McLeod, Emma McLamb, Lila Bond and Finnley Lary, her sister Margie Hall (Marshall), many beloved nieces and nephews, and special friends that she considered family, Freddie Creech, Ms. Lexene Lee, Ms. Martha Timbers, and Ms. Mary Alice Barbour.
The McLeod family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the many acts of kindness, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and a very special thank you to the entire staff of HomeChoice HealthCare for their compassionate care and love they showed our family.
