Maynard Maurice Coats, son of the late Herbert and Leone Coats passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at the age of 83. A retired contractor, Mr. Coats was born in Durham County on January 12, 1937. A graveside service will held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00am in the chapel of the Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton.
He is survived by his son, Mark Coats and his wife, Amy of Clayton; daughter, Sandy Ellis and her husband, Terry of Clayton; brother, Larry Coats and his wife, Diane of Oak Ridge; grandsons, Markus and Will Coats of Clayton. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by wife, Virginia Coats.
While flowers are accepted, memorial contributions may also be made to the Clayton High School Football Program 600 S. Fayetteville St. Clayton, NC 27520. Due to COVID-19 face coverings are required during the visitation and graveside service as well as observing current social distancing guidelines as recommended by the CDC.
