He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Lanier and Martha Williams Lanier, sister-in-law Dorothy Willets Lanier and nephew Willie Willets. Kent was born in Jacksonville, NC and graduated from White Oak High School. His first true love in life was music – he played and won honors for saxophone and clarinet and played guitar and bass in a band with his long time buddies - up and down the east coast for years. Kent moved to California for several years and worked as a driver and Marketing Specialist at a Mercedes Chauffeur Company - we were all very thankful when he returned to the east coast. He then studied electronics and information technology at Wake Technical College in Raleigh and worked at Square One in Wendell, NC. He then owned and ran his own information technology business in Raleigh for many years. Kent also worked with his sister in her photography business. It was during this time he met the love of his life – Elise – and eventually moved to join her in Wilmington, NC where he continued his business, studied Medical Coding at Cape Fear Community College and worked in a medical office. Kent and Elise moved to Baltimore, Maryland several years ago, and Kent was working as a Medical Coder at Mercy Hospital at the time of his passing. Kent always had a smile on his face and was always ready to help anyone in any way. We will miss him so very much and wish his soul restful peace. He was the light of our lives in so many ways – there are no words for how much we love Kent.
