Patricia Ellis

Patricia “Pat” D. Ellis, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and respected community leader whose life was defined by service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, following a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.

Throughout her professional career, Pat devoted her talents, leadership, and compassion to serving others. Pat retired as Director of Training with the Girl Scouts of Eastern North Carolina. Throughout her career she served as Executive Director with March of Dimes, Cerebral Palsy, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Her work reflected a lifelong commitment to service, advocacy, and improving the lives of those in need. Pat will be remembered with great love by her family and by all those whose lives she touched. Her family is deeply grateful for the time they shared with her and will forever cherish the many memories.

In accordance with Pat’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held in the near future.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas A. Dean and Pearl D. Dean, her beloved son, Johnnie M. Ellis, Jr., and her brother, Bennie A. Dean.

At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her daughter, Wendy E. Morris of Hookerton, North Carolina, and her husband, Johnnie, as well as her son, Scott Ellis of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and his wife, Ruth Anne.

In addition to her two children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Sydney Oleson and her Fiancé Matthew Russell of Clayton, North Carolina; Ty Bellamy, and his wife, Harmony Bellamy, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Ethan Bellamy and Lyla Bellamy of North Myrtle Beach; great-grandson, Isaac Evans and Cayden Russell of Clayton, North Carolina. brother, Douglas Dean and his wife Betty of Wilmington, North Carolina. Also important to Pat was her loving group of friends in Lion’s Gate Community, affectionately known as “The Lobby Girls.” Many memories were made and shared with the folks she enjoyed her daily experiences..

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the American Liver Cancer Foundation or to H3C Hospice/Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the outstanding staff of H3C Hospice and the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina, for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided to Pat, as well as for the kindness and support shown to the entire family during this difficult time.

Pat will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
