

Steve was born to Percy and Annette Driver in 1951. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1970 where he then left for the United States Air Force and served for 3 years. When he returned home, he continued to serve his community volunteering with Clayton Rescue Squad and Archer Lodge Fire Department. He retired from the Town of Clayton Public works in 2013.
He was married for 46 years to Pamela Benson Driver of Clayton, where they lived in Archer Lodge. He has two children: daughter, Beverly Driver and son, Phillip Driver. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was an active member for several years. Steve was best known as “pops” by many of the youth and kids in the church.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Annette Driver, and his brother, Terry Driver. He is survived by wife, Pamela Driver; daughter, Beverly Driver; son, Phillip Driver (Faith); grandchildren, Zachary Driver and Lila Aldridge; brother, Marshall Driver (Jo) and many nieces and nephews. Special family including Kent and Georgia “Peach” Price, Jason Stephenson and family.
Since retirement, Pops spent much of his time hunting, fishing, and tinkering with Ham radios. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and close friends.
A visitation for Steve will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 3:00 - 5:00pm at White Oak Baptist Church, 13943 Buffalo Rd, Archer Lodge, NC 27527 with a memorial service immediately following at 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White Oak Baptist Church Brotherhood.
