Phillip Morris Johnson

Phillip proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a 38-year career, as a courier, for the State of North Carolina. He was known as a quiet, dependable man whose actions spoke louder than words. Through a lifetime of dedication and perseverance, he earned the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him.

Phillip and his beloved wife, Myrna Johnson, would have celebrated 68 years of marriage in October. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, commitment, and family, creating countless memories that will be treasured for generations.

Phillip found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid baseball fan who rarely missed the opportunity to watch a good game. He enjoyed classic Western television shows, fishing, farming, and, most of all, his wife’s wonderful cooking. He appreciated the quiet moments in life and found happiness in being surrounded by those he loved.

He was a devoted father to his two sons, Dewayne and (the late) Randy. His greatest pride was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren: Alicia, Nick, Evan, and Drew. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren—Finley, Nicole, Lil’ Nick, Lacy, and Hailey, each of whom brought him joy.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of dedication, kindness, and quiet strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The Johnson family will forever cherish Phillip’s memory and find comfort in the many years of love, guidance, and example he shared with them.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Phillip’s life on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 until 12:00pm. The entombment will follow the celebration of life service in the mausoleum of Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton.
