Phyllis Higgins Ingram

Phyllis Higgins Ingram of Garner North Carolina, age 79 of Garner, NC, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Wakemed Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Johnston County on February 3, 1947, she was a daughter to the late Colonel Lenier Higgins and Mina Johson Higgins.

Phyllis graduated in the 1965 class of Cleveland High School. She worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years finally retiring from NC Farm Bureau. Phyllis attended Wildwood Baptist Church. In her free time, she loved visiting with her grandchildren, talking on the phone and going out to eat with her family and friends, cooking, baking, and collecting new recipes. Phyllis was a kind person who knew how to make her friends laugh.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home at 2:00pm on Friday, May 1, 2026. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm, just prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Garner.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her niece, Vickie Poole Sherwood.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Wayne Ingram and his wife, Melissa; sister, Judy Poole; brothers, Kenneth and Steve Higgins; grandchildren, Karsyn Whitley Ingram, Bailey Jewel Ingram, and Austin Westley Ingram; and many loving nieces and nephews.
